“Noise Free America” calls Lincoln this month’s noisiest city. Group founder, Ted Rueter, says city officials have a permissive attitude toward boom cars, rowdy bars, junker cars with bad mufflers and middle-of-the-night partying. Lincoln has been labeled “boom car town.” Assistant professor of trombone at UN-L, Scott Anderson, says booming cars with excruciatingly loud stero systems are everywhere in Lincoln. Police Chief, Tom Casady, has been working with Anderson on noise issues. After hearing about Anderson’s remarks, Casady says he’s quote, “alienated a group of people who were willing to be his ally.”
