Fort Worth Star-Telegram

December 4, 2007

Cowtown shows up on a lot of lists these days. Most affordable cities; cities with the best bowling with celebrities columnist. But Noisy Dozen? That’s a new one to me.

Noise Free America, a Madison, Wis., group has bestowed its monthly honor smack on the forehead of Fort Worth. Seems we’ve got lots of noise — speak up, sonny, I didn’t catch that in between the horns honking and rigs drilling!

We were nominated by Keith White (not the guy in the picture), who Noise Free America calls a local Fort Worth activist, who seems to have a bone to pick with a certain model airplane club that he says has ignored warnings to pipe down.

“This flagrant disregard of the public welfare is harming Fort Worth’s quality of life and property values,” according to the release, which includes a quote from a neighborhood resident who says: “I can’t believe nothing has been done so far. The noise is constant.”

Guess we’ll see how much noise Noise Free America can make.
